Aims

  • To introduce the student to the principles of healthcare research.
  • To locate the discipline of nursing within the policy framework of evidence-based practice.
  • To facilitate understanding of the relationship between research and healthcare provision
  • To introduce learners to the concept of critical appraisal.

  • (LO2) discuss the concept of hierarchies of evidence and their utility for nursing practice;
